Getting Started

Beginner’s Course

Beginner’s courses are available at the club on Wednesday evenings from   19:30 to 20:30. The Course lasts 6 weeks and takes place at our shooting venue in Killenkere, Co. Cavan. If you wish to put your name down for the next beginners course then please either email club with your details, or download the application form from Here and email to the above address. You can also contact the secretary for further details on 0860432736. There is no need to buy any equipment as all equipment is supplied for the six lesson beginners course.

Next Course starts 20th April 2016.

On completing a beginners course archers will be required to join Archery Ireland, if they wish to join the club and continue shooting.   Membership of Archery Ireland covers your insurance and this will have to be renewed on the 1st of March every year. Being an Archery Ireland member also allows you to compete in competitions at any Archery Ireland club and attend national training events if requested to do so. Archery Ireland is affiliated to World Archery the world governing body for archery which will also allow you to compete in international events.

While beginners are welcome to use club bows for a few weeks after they complete the training course, they should consider purchasing their own equipment at this stage. It is very important when buying a bow that you go to a reputable shop as you have to be measured to ensure you get the correct bow for yourself. To purchase a bow that is too long, too short or too heavy to draw back can cause safety problems for the archer.  Club members will also help in recommending the correct bow for any individual.
